Wellington, Lust Night. Thames has been isolated for two days. The gale mid Hoods caused the rivers to overllow, resulting in several washouts on the railway.

The trallic between Thames and Paeroa is suspended, but it is expected that it will be resumed to-morrow.

It is believed that sonic properties below Paeroa have sustained considerable damage. Some narrow escapes are reported. One settler, whose horses and trap were swept away, had a hard struggle in swim to land. The floods are now subsiding. The llauraki Plains drainage works, though incomplete, had a good testing. They stood the strain admirably and kept a largo area dry. The Thames-Paeroa train will run tomorrow. The Thanics-Te Aroha train, which is aNo interrupted, will resume early next week.

DAMAGE IN POVERTY RAY. Gisborne, Last Night. The weather now seems' settled, and Hood waters are rapidly subsiding, leaving a thick coating of silt in the paddocks and hous'es that were swamped. Additional damage avported is the wreck of Cooper's accommodation house at Moore Springs. It is a large single storey wooden building, leased by Mrs Bellerhy. The flood water got under it. and part lias' fallen into the adjacent river, which had encroached on the bank just by the houses. The new bridge at Pakarae. connecting Oisborne with the coast traffic, is very shaky, and numerous slips have occurred on that route.
