FOOTBALL.

AN EASTER MATCH. On Easter Saturday a team from the St. James' Oiub, Weuingtou, containing only two or three senior players, met a team from the Star Club on the Recreation Sports Ground, and, after a very lukewarm match, autlered defeat by 17 points to nil. Mr. 0. West woa the referee.

Early in the match Hawkins kicked a penalty goal for Star. CLIFTON" CLUB. The Clifton Football dub.held its annual meeting on Thursday evening, Mr. T. Buchanan presiding. Tk# statement of accounts showed a credit balance of £lO lis 9d and a credit of touring fund of £8 Os lid. —Adopted. Thirteen new members were elected. Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P.; president, Mr. W. F. Jenkins; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Co«aar, W. H. Nosworthy, H. Langman, A. Kerr, and Mrs. Causock; secretary and .treasurer, Mr. H. Spurdle; assistant secretary, Mr. C. H. Tate; club captain, Mr <R. Tait; committee. Messrs R. Tate, D. George, W. Jury, M. Cain, H. iAngman, T. Buchanan, W. Fuller; selection committee, Messrs R. Tate and W. Guv; auditor, Mr T. Buchanan. The lecretary was voted a bonus of £3 3s for hi» past services. The meeting favored the fixtures starting early this season, »o as to allow of a. . third round being played if possible. It, was decided to send a team to the seven-a-side tournament at the Eltham'gports. It was also decided to try and arrange a match with the Stratford senior team. It wa* resolved that the matter of insuring players be left in the hands of the committee to formulate some scheme a* to insuring players and submit a report to a general meeting of the rlwb.
