BOY SCOUTS.
I The Quail and Cuckoo Patrols had a day's tracking across country yesterday under the supervision of the District Inspector. A start was made from Vogeltown at 9.15 a.m., the enemy getting ten minutes' start. The Scouts found it very difficult to- track through the grass paddocks, and tlie trial was lost shortly after the start and was not picked up for nearly half an hour. Eventually the "spoor" led to a nice spot, near the Mangorei Factory, whete lunch was enjoyed at 12.15 p.m. The "spoor" led through the paddocks) ,to Woodlands road, where it was lost for a time, being picked up at Chong's corner, thence through paddocks and swamp over the Renui, and past and through Mr Hale's property, past the town materworks and the Meeting of the Waters' to Smart road, via the suspension bridge. A timed practice in are lighting and a swimming competition filled in an hour.
