Highnett, for several year» Inspector of Stock in this district, ha* resigned his) position to take charge of Mr. Newton King's land department at Stratford. On Thursday the Stratford ladies visited New Plymouth to play the home ladies at croquet, victory resting with the home team by 186 to 114. A clay pigeon match between Ngair* and Stratford took place at Ngaire yesterday, and was won by the home team by 48 to 33. For unlawfully sleeping on the railway premises a man named John Walters and the possessor of several alias, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment by Messrs S. A. Ward and C. D. Sole, J.P.'s.
