The Easter tennis tournament, for which there were 309 entries, commenced to-day 'n fine weather, though there was a strong wind in the morning. Results: — Men's Championship Singles. First round: Lampe beat Davies, i—6, 6—2, 6—4; Reid beat Trevena, 6—3, fi—2; Powdrell beat Thompson, I—6, 6—2; Allen beat Fenton, 6—3, 6—2; Wybourne beat McTsaac, 6—3, 6—4; Swainson beat Jones, 6—3, 5—6, 6—l; Sellar beat Lea, 6—5, 6—3. Second round: Hall beat Howell, 6—4, 6—2; Clark beat Dickie by default; Whitehead beat Lints. 6—2, 6—2; Ongley beat Collings, 6—3, 3—6, 6—4. Ladies' CVmpionsliip Singles—First round: R.
