STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.
(From Our Resident Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. The Rev. B. Hudson, ,at one time minister of the Presbyterian Church in Stratford, and at present in charge of the church at Brooklyn, Wellington, is on a visit to Stratford. Miss Eichstadt, eldest daughter of Mr. Kichstadt, of Midhirst, was married today to Mr. E. Jones, of Te Wera. How keen the demand for land is was again illustrated this week. On Monday a farm of 200 acres on the Ratapiko road, Tariki, was sold at £ll per acre. The following day the purchaser sold a portion of it at a considerable advance. The public were generally astonished when the news was received of the small score ninde l\v the Australians in their first innings. To dismiss a strong batting side l:ko the visitors for the lowest score made 011 the tour is a feat which Southall and Cole in particular and the Taranaki team in ceneral have every reason to bo proud of. .
