PROPOSED NEW CLUB. There were over thirty present, including Messrs. U. Grey (.president of the New Plymouth Club) and W. Heaiey (secretary of the Imtzroy Club). The former presided, ana stated that the new club would have the fullest sympathy of both the local bowling clubs, and any assistance or advice the members of the older club couid give would willingly be grained. Any assistance that Mr. Aldriuge, Ihe club s custodian, could give woulJ also be placed at the club's disposal.
Mr. llobbs, convener of the meeting, explained the position of the proposed green, waicli would be situate on Western Park, above tlie foot-bail ground, just about one thousand yards from the Post Office. It was proposed to lease a piece of ground 150 ft x 170 ft. This would be sufficient for a full green of 120 ft* and allow room for pavilion, etc., later on. He also gave details of cost of fencing, etc., and stated that he thought the club could make a good start if they obtained fifty members at £2 per annum. Turfing would be more expensive than laving down in grass, but if it was turfed at once it would be available for play next November. The chairman stated that if they could obtain that number of members to start their success was assured. " The New Plvniouth Club did not start with anything like that number.
After some further discussion, it was resolved that Mr. H. J. Hobbs be appointed secretary pro tem. A canvass !*i the room resulted in the names of thirty members heincr obtained. A committee was appointed, consisting of Messrs. James Sole, George Cornev, V. H. Beale, Hunter, and the secretary, to canvass for additional members. make enquiries as to eo4 of turfing the green, fencing, etc.. and Teport to ft general meeting as soon ps possible, when officers, etc., will be elected. The following rinks have been selected to play for the Fitzroy Club asrainst TCltham on Good Friday, going down by the mail train and playincr a morni»<? and afternoon match: Lovegrove. R. .Cottier, Chivers, Healv (skin); K ebb ell, Hobbs. Onllender, Abbott (skip): o\enliam, S. Cottier, Crnwshaw. 0. Griffiths (skin).
