WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD
At the usual meeting of the above Board tharc were present: Messrs Connett, Smith and Western. Mr. (Jomiett was elected chairman. Correspondence was read from Mr. H. Taylor re charges for use of pound; from Valuation Department, re date of striking rate; from Mr. Roy, stating lie was expjeting Kelly road deviation to ■be gazetted at any time; from Mr. H. S. Hall, re obtaining the Clifton County road grader; and from settlers on portion of Lepper road, requesting that old Lepper road be closed. Mr. Connett reported he had arranged with Mr. J. Holmes to act as arbitrator for Mr. Montefiore and the Boara. The clerk was directed to' sue for all outstanding rates; also to request Mr. Roy to have matters in connection with Kelly road deviation completed by next meeting. Mr. Merrin requested permission to fence in a portion of Sisson Terrace by the dairy factory.—To be informed that the Board have no objection. Surfaceman Giddy reported that Cartwright had finished the Wortley road contract, having delivered 114 yds; Griffiths' hill, on Richmond road, had been formed, and R. Tate had graded portions of same road with the grader. Surfaceman Palmer reported that the upper end of Te Arei and York roads had been formed and fern cleared from bridges. The clerk was directed to request Mr. W. Rowe to cut back trees overhanging the Kelly road. Mr. Crofsky requested that the hill on Manutahi East road be graded, and it was decided to do same provided the settlers assist. The surfacemen were directed to clear Sisson Terrace of furze and blackberry, aUo any other pieces of land which belong to the Board. Accounts amounting to £73 were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
