WELLINGTON HARBOUR CHARGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. ; The Wellington Harbour Board to-day adopted a new scale of charges., involving increases totalling £17,640 .per annum. Of this merchants will be as'ked j to provide £9473 and ships £8167.
FRIENDLY SOCIETIES. Wellington, Last Night. . Regulations under the Friendly Societies Act, 1909, are published in detail in the Gazette issued to-day. NAPIER HARBOUR POLL. Napier, Last Night. A poll was held to-day in Napier Harbour rating district on the Harbour Board's proposal to borrow £300,000 for the completion of the breakwater. The harbour voting was as follows: For, 1963 votes; against, 1456. As a three-fifths majority was'" required, the proposal was thus .lost by 107 votes. TRIAL SHIPMENT OF APPLES. Nelson, Last Night. The steamer Paparoa, which is to take the first shipment of Nelson fruit to England, arrived this evening. The graders report very favourably upon the quality ef the shipment, which comprises over 5000 cases of apples.
