EARTHQUAKE SHOCK. By Telegraph.—Press 1 Association Wanganui, Last Night, j A sharp shock 01 earthquake was experienced at two minutes past six this evening. THE WEATHER. Wanganui, Last Night. The weather has undergone r, complete change, being new wet and cold. WELCOME TO BANDSMEN. Nelson, Last Night. A public welcome was tendered to the Garrison Band to-night on their return from the Wanganui contest. There was a crowded gathering at tlie City Council Chambers, where speeches were delivered bv prominent citizens, who eulogised the band's performance at the contest and also the successes of the solo instrumentalists. LAND FOR MINERS. Thames, Last Night. Further efforts are to be made to secure a portion of the Piako land for miners' settlement.
