There was a crowded gathering at tlie City Council Chambers, where speeches were delivered bv prominent citizens, who eulogised the band's performance at the contest and also the successes of the solo instrumentalists. LAND FOR MINERS. Thames, Last Night. Further efforts are to be made to secure a portion of the Piako land for miners' settlement.
