Sir Ernest bhackleton is planning a purely scientific geographical expedition to the Antarctic towards the end of 1911, but not competing With Captain Scott's. Sir Ernest Shackleton's bases ■•vill be Cape Adair and Adeli L«nd. ■fp exnlores between 'Cane Adair and The staff will includp some of bis old comnanions. Mr Douglas Mawson, of Sydney, will be scientific director. Financial support has already been promised.
