THE CONTRACTS AGREED TO. By Cable.—Press London; March 17. Sir G. H. Reid and the Hon. W. Hall-Jones have had an interview with the Admiralty, at which they formally agreed to the contracts ior the construction of war ships on behalf of ■the Governments of Australia and New Zealand. The vessels will include a number of improvement upon the Indomitables. the nature of which is confidential at present. They will be of 28-lmot speed, 18,000 tons burthen, and 570 feet long. The trials will be completed by July, 1912. OUR DREADNOUGHT. By Telegraph.—Press' Association. Wellington, March 18. The tender of the Fairfield Company, London and Clyde, at £852.990, has been accepted for building the New Zealand Dreadought. The auxiliary machinery will cost £22,000 more. The contract time is 24 months.
