ROUGH WEATHER AT NELSON

TAKAKA FLOODED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, March 15. A heavy northerly gale and torrential rain occurred at Takaka to-day. The wharf is three inches under water. The tide is the highest on record: The ketch Venture broke from her moorings and drifted on a mud bank, where she is safely anchored. Flooded rivers are expected at high tide tonight. The Nelson flood has subsided. Considerable damage has been done, principally to the Port road and at Stoke, including a wash-out of three miles of railway. At the Stoke Rowing Club's boat landing and Lukin's wharf there is eighteen indies of water. Houses in Trafalgar street north and Waiwui street are still isolated, the water lying in the gardens without an outlet.
