TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Land Board held its ordinary monthly meeting yesterday, when tnere were present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. F. Simpson), in the chair, and Messrs. Rattenbury and McCluggage. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. The following application for land "was received since last meeting:—Sections' 11, 12, and 13, block 9, Kapara, 1268 acres, Mrs. B. Higgins, o.r.p. The application was approved, but the applicant will be 'informed that She will be expected to comply with the conditions of personal residence and other conditions, and no concessions in connection therewith will be allowed by the Board. Applications for land wer# approved as follows':—Section 8, block 10, Mahoe, 658 acres, 0.r.p., Charles McPhee; and section 2, block 1, Piopiotea West, 4GI, acres, renewable lease, A. W. Cameron (only applicants in a ballot); section 3, iblock 9,. Pouatu. 493 acres 1 rood 26 perches, 0.r.p., George Stockwell; section 7, block 13, Upper Waitara, 600 acres, 0.r.p., Herbert F. .Cane; section 12, block 14, Opaku, 760 acres', 0.r.p., F. W. Newton. SELECTORS IN DEFAULT.
The following schedule of selectors in default was considered and dealt wt'i: Anderson and Burns, section 4, bfock 10, Waro, non - residence. Residence conditions to be complied with in thr<>e months, or the land •will be forfeited. A. E. E. Belcher, section 5, block 15, Upper Waitara, non-residence. —To be resident in a bona fide manner wit/tin a month, or the land would be forfeited. G. >E. Wilson, section 4, block 10, Pouatu, non-residence. Explanation satisfactory. 1 j J. McLeod, section 12, block 15, Aria, (non-residence. —Six months grantea m which to reside or transfer. Gaustad Bros., section 44, block 11, Waitara, non-residence. Postponed till next meeting. A. J. Miller, section 3, block 7, Upper Waitara, deficient improvements. Six months' extension. H. Larsen, jun., section 3, block 11, Upper Waitara, deficient improvements. —Six months' extension.
A. L. Henry, section 1, block 11, Upper Waitara, deficient improvements. ■ —Twelve months' time granted in which to bring improvements up to date, or transfer subject to those conditions, failing which the land will be forfeited. TRANSFERS. , The application of W. G. Fargie to transfer to Olaf McCutchan was refused. It was decided to recommend the Minister to approve the following transfers:—H. H. Rule to W. Godinagh to G.' Waterson section 1, block • 7, Mimi; J. Nielson (by Official Assignee) to A. A. Nelson, subsection 2, section 26, block 10, Ngatimaru; W. P. Pratt to P. E. Knyvett and T. S. R. Shaw, sections 10 and 8, blocks 10 and 14, Mahoe (subject to ranger's report); C. H. and T. Mackinder to F. Agang, section 9, block 3, Ohura (subject to declaration as to residence); M. T. to C. E. The Board could not grant the trans-1 fer of section 17, block 3, Opunake, from • M. Carroll to D. R., W., and E. T. j Wright in its present form. A sublease of subsection 1 of section 102, block 10, Pouatu, from F. C. Coxhead to the Taranaki Education Board 1 was approved. Glasgow to Allen, see-1 tion 30, block 2, Ngatimaru; Field to I Farnham, section 0, block 2, Ngatimaru; | Gooch to Ward, section 14, block 16. Ngatimaru. MISCELLANEOUS. Upon the application of Messrs. Roy ■and Nicholson, the grant of timber and tramway rights from W. B. Davies to New Plymouth Firewood Company was approved. C. E. G. Finnerty's application to convert section 12, block 10, Ngatimaru, to freehold was approved. ' C. E. Rabv was granted a year-to-year tenancy of 1% acres of section 5, block 13, Waro, at a rental of 5s per annum. Consideration of the non-payment of rent by A. McPhee on section a, block 12, Aria, was deferred.
Ft was decided to extend the time tor completion of the lease of section 2, block 7, Mahoe, by W. T. Bacon. A. Hope and B. Macfarlane applied for the freehold of section 4, block 9, Ohura, and B. Macfarlane for the freehold of section 8. block 9, Ohura.—Mr E. Toline was appointed appraiser for the valuation of the land. W. Walsh's application for the free■liold of section 14, block 7, Ngaere, was approved. J. ITanlcy applied for exemption from residence on section 8, block 2, Heao, as there was no work in the district.— Refused. The Board reconsidered the matter of the transfer of half-interest in section 4, block 1, Pouatu, from J. and B. Davey to J. Davey and C. E. Morton, and decided to adhere to its previous decision.
