STOCK SALES. VICKERS & STEVENS' REPORT. Viekers and Stevens report that there was a big yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday. Young stock showed, a decided decline on late ■prices. Calves made from £1 5s to xl 10s, 18-months steers £2 5s to £2 15s, store cows .£2 to £3 103, fat cows, £4 8s to £5 4s, bulls £2 to £4; cull lambs (is; cull ewes, 2s 8d to 4s. JOHNSON VILLE. Abrahams and Williams report: —We offered a heavy yarding of fine bullocks and sheep, which sold at late rates. Best bullocks £8 5s to £8 12s 0d : light £8 to £8 2s 6d, light £7 15s (equal to 20s per 1001b), sound heavy wethers 14s Gd to 14s Ud, prime wethers 14s Id, prime ewes 12s sd, medium ewes lis Gd to lis !)d, lambs 9s 3d to 9s 9d, woolly 10s Gd to lis Gd. WANGANUI. 1 Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—We yarded 4500 sheep and 200 cattle. Sheep were in good demand, and all except one small line of ©wes changed hands at full market rates. There was a good demand for breeding ewes, but wethers were not so keenly competed for as of late. Cattle were dull of sale, and the bulk oi those yarded went out unsold. DUNEDIN. Dunedin, ilarch 9. At Bitrnside stock sales to-day 137 cattle were yarded. On 'account of the small yarding competition was .k«eii and prices considerably firmer than l«i.vt week. The best price obtained for prime bullocks was £ll'2s 6d, medium to good brought from £8 (id to . £9 7s <'d, while inferiors brought from £7 2s 6(1 tp ; £B,lQs. Heifers realised from £4 10s to £5 OS. Sheep—A fairly large yarding of 18S5 Yhe quality, witli the exception pf.,a few odd pens. of prime w.ethers, was • riwfdium. The price for good wethers showed a firmer tendency than last week, but for inferiors they were not so goo'l. Lambs—-2498 yarded. The quality was inferior to last week's. Prices for wellfinished lambs of good quality were equal to last week's, but unfinished lighter sorts were a little easier. Extra prime, to 14s, good 13s fld to 14s Od, medium 10s to 12s 6d, inferior 10s to lis. LONDON WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report received the following cable from their London house under date of the Bth inst.:— Wool—The March sales opened with a large attendance of buyers, animated competition and a fair selection. For merinos generally prices are at par to 5 per cent, advance, fine crossbreds are unchanged, but medium and coarse crossbreds show a decline of from par to 5 per cent.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house i'nder date Btli inst.:—At the opening of the second series of sales today there was a. full attendance, com-, petition by Home and Continental buyers being active. The opening catalogues were fairly representative. As compared with. last, sale's closing rates, prices are about the same for fine and medium crossbreds, about par to 5 per cent, lower for coarse crossbred, and about 5 per cent, higher for greasy merino. America is buying suitable lots of crossbreds.
