THE TRENTHAM MEETING. HALLIDAY WINS THE CHAMPION - SHIP. By Telegraph.—Press' Association. rentham, Last Night. The final stage of the Empire Match was fired this morning an unpleasant ■weather, and resulted in a victory for the New Zealanders, who scored 2043 to Australia's 1930. The highest scorer was Armourer-Sergt. Cutler, of Australia, who put up a total of 208 over all stages The United Service Match was concluded, and resulted in a. win ior vue Rifle, Club by three points who thus secured the Dawson Shield and £2O. The Colonial Ammunition Company's cup went to the Karon Rifle CluhV ft team, who gave a fine exhibition of drill shooting. Thift cleared the way. for the Clvam'pionship match, which was opened at 3.15 in unpleasant weather. The match was' not exciting, but Halliday, of Karori, forged ahead and was never qtiUe overtaken by his opponents. The United Service Match, Volunteers versus Rifle Clubs, 200, (iOO and 800 yards, for the Dawson Challenge Shield and €2O, was won by the Clubs with an aggregate score of l(i(!8, the volunteers scoring 1065. Mas'elield (Sounds) put up 02 for the Clubs, and Wells (Southland) 02 for the Volunteers, these being the highest individual scorers.

The Teams' Championship for the highest aggregates in sectional firing and (cover firing matches, resulted: Opaki No. 1, £2O, 540; Napier Guards and Opaki No. 2, £4 10s each, 532 each; Linwood, £3, 527.

The King's Prize, 1000 yds, 10 shots, was' won by Halliday, Karori. He tak»s the Ballinger Rifle Champion Belt, the gold medal presented by the Defence Minister, the gold badge of the Association, and ■ £SO; 440-43-483. King (Christchurch) was second, winning the Silver Star and Badge and £25; 441-41-482. Ross (Karori), silver star and badge and £.20; 441-38-479, was third. Cutler (Australia) won a silver s'tar and badge and £l2, with a score of 438-41-479. Govenloek (IWoodville), Ryder (Hastings), and Sbtheran (Greymouth), with -473, each won £5. Marenzi (.Ekatniiuiia), Patrick (Auckland)., Wilson Southland, £5 each, 472; Marshall s(Karori), Randall (Linton), £-5 each, 470. A ; Special Match, with collapsible'target, 300 yds, resulted: Timam Pdtt Guards,- £5; Karori A Team, £3; Denniston, £.2. The Conver Firing Match, 200 yds, resulted: —Karori B, £5, 32 hits; Akarana. R.C., 31 hits each, £2 10s.

A Surprise Target Match, distance between 100 and 500 yds, was won by Has'tings Rifles, (£5; Opaki, £2. The winner of the championship was "chaired" from the ground to the enclosure, where the general distribution of prizes took place. Lady Ward handed the prizes to the winners. Lieut.
