TARANAKI RUGBY fUNION. The following j* the report to be presented mi the annual meeting of the Taranaki Rugby Union to be held on the 18th presenting' their annual report, your 'committee have* pleasure in •congratulating the delegates on last year's successful season. :

In representative football, Taranaki was not as successful as in the previous year. Seven matches were played, tnuse lost being against Auckland (at Auckland), Wellington (ait Wellington), and Wanganui .'(at New Plymouth.); those won were against Wanganui (at Wanganui). Auckland- (at New Plymouth), Hawke's Bay (at Napier), Manawatuand the Goldfields' Union. Arrangements have been made with the Wanga•mii Union for "home and home" matches every season. ' In the provincial championship (seniors). Waimate. Stratford and Opunake qualified ior the final. Waimate winning in the play-off; juniors. Eltham and Kaponga, the former win-, ninar: thirds, Stratford and Pa tea. the latter winning in the plav-oIT.

Finance.—The balance-sheet shows a credit balance of £52 13s fid, and a surplus of assets over liabilities of ,£3O.

Baylv Memorial.—Your committee recommend that this should take the form of gates at the entrance to the New Plymouth Recreation Grounds. Designs and estimates have been procured, and \fill be laid before the meeting. " Insurance of players.—As will 'be remembered, at tTie initiated bv Mr. A. Humphries, a committee was set up bv the New Zealand Union to promote a national scheme of insurance. The report was submitted and rejected at the -annual general meeting. Since then, your committee has considered the question of the establishment of a local insurance scheme, but after thorough V vestiiat'on. considered that aiv scVme. unless henvilv financed by the Union, •would lie impracticable.

■ New rules.—A conference of delegates of the New Zealand, New South Wales and Queensland Unions was held in Sidney in -Tarnum - to consider the advisability of the amendment of thp present rules. Copies of recommendations of the conference- have been received, and will be laid on the table at the meeting.''
