There were eight butchers employed at the Southdown works yesterday, an.: the number or sheep killed was about, four hundred, or rather less than hal f the usual daily capacity of the works. To-day three more men were taken on. so that there are now eleven men r ousy. The new gang are doing good work, and keeping the works running without the assistance of the strikers.
