NARROW ESCAPE OF A PASSENGER TRAIN. ANOTHER VICTORIAN MISHAP. By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright Melbourne, March 10. A thrilling escape from disaster occurred to a passenger train travelling last night between Clifton Hill and Merri stations. The train had just left the former station and was approaching an iron bridge without a coping, spanning a chasm sixty feet deep, when the driver felt a thump. He stopped the train and found the leading wheels of the engine had left the rails and were within eighteen inches of the edge of the bridge when he stopjied the train.
