At the inquest on Mr* Day, a letttr from her addressed to the Chief Commissioner of Police was read, in which she accused her husband of wrongdoing with her step-sister, and intimated net intention of putting an end to this condition of things, adding that some people would say she was mad. Rose Woodward, the step-sister, admitted being in love with Day, and stated that on the night of the tire deceased awoke her and led her to the dining room, apparently trying to throw her on the lire. A verdict was returned that deceased was mentally unsound. Dav had been discharged from tne police force for joining in the name ot bis brother because he was over the regulation age.
