WELtIXGTOX INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Xight. The Wellington industrial exhibition suggested by the Industrial Association is to be held at a later date than originally proposed, as it is hoped Parliament will meet b'efore the exhibition opens and legalise the employment of assistants after 6 p.m. At to-night's meeting of the association it was resolved to open the exhibition on - 2Tth July," and that it continue for one month. Present applications for space were reported to total 28157 square teet. The manager of the Wellington Gas Company wrote stating'that as it had been decided to light the exhibition by electricity supplied from the city mains, the Board considered the company had not received the consideration due to one of the largest industries of the district, and had determined not to take any part in the exhibition. , A NATIONAL MONUMENT. i Akaroa. Last Night. ' The Hon. T. Mackenzie visited Akaroa to-day and met several deputations, which brought before him several matters chiefly of local interest. One request made was that the Government should endeavor to acquire the site of the Britomart monument, erected on the spot where the British flag was first hoisted. At present it stands partly on private land, the owner of which, prior to his decease, expressed his intention of giving the necessary area To give public access to the monument, but he did not carry out his intention, and his trustees consider it is not in their power to give the land. The Minister said he recognised that the monument was a naTional one, and undertook to communicate with the trustees on the subject of the acquisition of the necessary area. A SHEEP EPIDEMIC. Gisborne, Tuesday. • An outbreak of trouble amongst sheep, known as nasal bot, is causing some con. cern. 3 bot fly-, wnfefi is similar to thaMvlrich attacks horses, finds sheen most vulnerable in the head, the grub being located in the nasal air passages causing irritntion and swelling. On oi\<large "coastal station four thousand sheep are affected. The Agricultural Department's staff has been kept busy the Tast few davs responding to the demand for treatment. So far there is littk, if any. morality. COUNCILLORS DISQUALIFIED. Dannevirkc. Tuesday. Two members of Hie Borough Council have resigned owing, it is understood, to having had business relations with the Council exceeding the amounts allowed bv law. Xo correspondence relating to the matter has yet been published.
