The Makura, on her last' voyage, maintained simultaneously wireless communication with Cape Battery, 1342 miles distant, and Honolulu, 1000 miles distant. She also communicated wrth Vancouver, 2800 miles away. FINE RAINS IN AUSTRALIA. Sydney, March 8. A monsoonal rainstorm operating the last few days over Australia was one of the most extensive on record. Three stations in South Australia received five inches, one in Victoria over five inches, fifteen in Queensland over an inch, and one nearly seven inches. REPLACING THE WAIKARE. Svdney, March .8 Sir James Mills states that consequent on the los's of the Waikare the Union S.S. Co. will build another steamer of the Mnrama tvpe.
