THE XUAMOTT CLL'I!. The annual meeting of the Ngamotu J Golf Club was heiu oil Saturday evening in the Town Hall; There was a large attendance uf members', incuiu'-g a number of ladies. Mr C. IT. Burgess, captain, occupied the chair. An ogy was received from the president, Mr A. Stanaish. The report and balance-.Mieei. as published in our Saturday's issue, was read and adopted, the members expressing 'great satisfaction with the present financial position. Officers for the year were elected as follows: —President, Mr A. Standish; vice-presidents, Messrs' E. Morshead, C., 11. Burgess, and Dr Walker; captain, Mr . A. H. Glasgow; secretary, Mr \V. Bew-1 ley; treasurer, Mr C. A. Benbow; committee, Messrs F. S. Johns, C. 11. Burgess, J. Paton and H. B. Armitage; auditor, Mr V. Elliott; club s'olictxor, Mr Cecil Wright. The ladies elected their officials as follows: —Captain, Mrs Paton; "lion, secretary, Miss Stephenson; committee, Mrs C. H. Weston, Misses femfth, MeKellar, Fitzlierbert, Bewley and Standish. i The chairman referred to the fact! that Mr J. Paton was' retiring from the position of secretary to the Club I after having held the position for over eight years. He had worked very hard for the Club, not qnly as secretary, but also as a member of the Grounds Committee, and in every way possible, me Club very much regretted that he could j not see his way to continue in the of fice, and he moved the following resolution, which was unanimously and enthusiastically carried:: "That this meeting requests Mr Paton to accept the Club's cheque for £lO 10s, with which to purchase some article he may cnoose as an evidence of good feeling from the members, and a token of appreciation of his long and valued .services as secretary of the Club." In moving the resolution the chairman said that he did not wish Mr Paton to regard this in the light of payment, as it would be impossible for a club of this size to think of adequately rewarding him. He also referred to tfie work Mrs Paton had done. " j Mr Paton, in responding, stated that what he had done had all been for the love of golf and of New Plymouth. He ■fully recognised the value of good golf links' to any town. Many other members had worked as hard as he had. ' NEW LINKS. Considerable discussion ensued over the question of new links. The members were unanimously agreed on the' I benefit good permanent golf links would |be to the town as an attraction, and I the following resolution was' passed: | "That Messrs C. W. Govett, A. H. j Steeds, J. B. Jack, C. A. Jones, W. C. W eston and C. Gray be appointed to confer with the general committee on the question of new links, and to report to a special general meeting of the Club.
