Hie fields were good, the racing splendid, and the biggest crowd of the four days attended. The weather was dull, ram threatening. Res'ults: — Elms Handicap; 7 furlongs. —Burston, 7.13, 1; Kainbrook, 6.9, 2; Lorl Derby, 7.0, 3. Eleven others started. Also started: Braw Scot, Saint Tano, Ceria, Alary. Golden Point led all the way. Tanami put m a fine run, but came out too late. Won by one and a half lengths, five lengths between second and third. Time, lmin 30y 2 sec. Place Handicap, one mile and a half. —Conge Deslire, 7.13, 1; Kerlie, 8.9 and Matorie, 6.13 (dead heat), 2; Marled, 6.9, 3. Also started: Orline, Ungarie, Lord Nolan, Blind Harry, Delaware. Conje led from Kerlie, Ungarie and Orline to the mile. At five furlongs urline ran into the lead, half a length ahead of Kerlie. Conge again took command and led into the suaignt from Matouree, Dhobi, Moruga, Kerlie, ibut Moruga fell Iback. Conge won easily by four lengths, a head between the second and third. Stately and Saverene fell. Won by five lengths, a bad third. Time, 6min 34% see. Champion Stakes, three miles. Prince Foote (W. H. Smith), 1; Pendil (Pike), 2; Diabolo (Cusdin), 3. The only starters. For the first mile the horses went at a little more than a walk, accompanied by "the derisions of the whole crowd and when the field came round to the stand the second time the crowd on the flat simply "yelled." After going nine furlongs' the pace increased to a little more than a canter, Foote takingnhe lead, with Pendril second. The race did not commence until the distance, where Foote was half a lengtli from Pendil, and the latter t.wo lengths in front of Diabolo. Pendil and Foote then raced hard for a win, and the former looked like winning, but after a hard fought finish, Prince Foote won by half a lengtli, D'.abolo a bad third. Time, Bmin 47sec. When the horses tame the crowd oil nil parts of the course hooted, and probably the greatest demonstration ever made .it Flennngioii races ensued. 'The time was 50 seconds slower than any previous Champion Stakes. The geneva] impression is that an attempt was made to beat Foote in a mile race. .
