"To the Editor. Sir,—l have been spending a couple of days in your interesting city, and on leaving wish to call attention to n nuisance which might with advantage be abated. I refer to the all-night chimes on your Town Clock. To any one -.v"io is a light sleeper this is a great disturb, ance. Every quarter-hour, just when almost asleen. ding-dons goes the bell: increasing noise at the half-hour, threequarters. and the whole chime nml the hours tolled as a finale. Surely some mechanical arrangement could be made to switch off the chimes at. saw 10 o'clock till*"ft a.m.. so that the night's rest may not be broken. T have been staving at the White Hart Hotel, where everything *s verv good, but n°xi lime T come here T shall have to seek accommodation at least a mile off.—l am. etc.. COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER.
