MISTAKEN IDENTITY.
A WESTOWN INCIDENT. | Last Thursday a man named Patrick MeGeehan was charged, on the information of county ranger Loughlin, before Messrs. Berry and Boon, J.P.'s, with allowing horses' to gallop on the footpath in Elliott road. Mr. Quilliam prosecuted. Accused denied the charge, which was adjourned for a week to enable evidence to be brought. Yesterday the case was again brought before the same Justices, when Mr. Quilliam asked leave to withdraw the case, as it was a case of mistaken identity, and the right man had been now served. The mistake occurred through Loughlm, who did not know the man personally, being told his name was MeGeehan, by a cyclist. He had written defendant telling him he need not appear. The case was accordingly struck out. Later on a man named Skagrene, an employee in the same stables, was charged with the alleged breach. Mr. Quilliam prosecuted. Mr. Grey, who defended ( as'ked for an adjournment to prepare his j case, as he had only just been instruct- ) ed. The ease was accordingly adjourned I until noon to-day.
