BOWLING.

WiiTARA v. netv Plymouth, Yesterday foui rinks of New Plymouth 'bowlers visited Waitara, and played ,the local club, winning by 52 The Waitara green consists of four rinks, and, considering the time it has been paid down, played very well. It is situated on the camp reserve, ana is well' sheltered. There is a good croquet lawn adjoining, for the ladies. The Waitara Club has just erected a nioe pavilion, and, although it is not quite finished inside, the appurtenances are good. The visiting players were well treated, the club providing light reI freshments and the ladies a good afternoon tea. At the conclusion of the game, Mr. Gilbert expressed his pleasure that the New Plymouth bowlers had paid them a visit again. Although defeated, the Waitara bowlers trusted that with practice their young club would soon be able to wrest the laurels from their visitors. He called for cheers for ihe Xew Plymouth bowlers. Mr. George Grey, the president of the New Plymouth Club, in responding, thanked them ior the good game they had had, | and the excellent treatment they had received. He noted with pleasure great 'improvement in the green, and also in the play of the Waitara men. For a young club they had done well. He referred also to the pavilion that had been erected since New Plymouth last visited Waitara, and hoped they would have manv enjovable games together. He also thanked the ladies for their kindness in providing afternoon tea. Upon his call, cheers were given for the Waitara Club, and for the ladies.
