THE TRENTHAM .MEETING. SOME OF THE PROMINENT SHOTS. Bv Telegraph.—Press' Association. Trentham, Last Night. Matters are well in hand for the open, ing of the jubilee meeting of the Rifle Association to-morrow. For several days competitors have been hard #fc practice. The Australians have done excellent scoring, Armorer-Sergeant Cutler, of New South Wales, putting up 'lOl out of a possible 10.) .at 8(J0, 900 and 1000 yards. Thi's is n record fo r any range in New Zealand. At present the entries total 57'J, and it is expected that 000 will be reached before shooting starts to-morrow. Among the ex-cham-pions taking part are Ching, Hyde, Irvine, R. J. King, W. S. King, and Milrov. There arc also a number of prominent New Zealand shots, among them being Wills, the South Island champion; Kuramer, the Wairarapa champion; James, winner of the Vic.'forian Syme aggregate; and HaHulav, top scorer in the Empire match. From Victoria comes Surgeon-Major Macknight. Shooting will start to-morrow, at 9 a.m., with volunteer and rifle club matches, the First match of the championship series being started in the afternoon if time permits.
