THE RUTLAND. HOTEL FIRE. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Wanganui, February 28. The police court was occupied all the morning hearing a charge of arson against Joseph Davis and Martin Haines in connection with the Rutland Hotel fire on January 22. Most of the evidence this' morning was given by insurance agents regarding the value of the stock; which accused valued at £2400 and which was insured for £IOOO. Only seven out of twenty-four of the witnesses were examined. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Wanganui, Last Night. The accused were committed for trial. 33aif was not forthcoming.
