Mr. Botha, in an address at Pietersburg, said he hoped that the coming elections would not be on a question ot English versus Dutch, but that the best m|n would be returned. London, February 28. Lord Brassey, interviewed on his return irom South Africa, referring to Mr. Merriman's attitude, said that although the Transvaal \, is not the senior colony it was thebj-:;bone of the whole of South Africa. It was only natural that the men chosen by the Transvaal should be fitting to lead the new Government. He did not believe that"th'e latest development would lead to any set-back.
