Bates' summary and forecast are as follow:— North-easterly .winds have prevailed awKTHive moderated in the north; rain has fallen in most parts of the country and heavily in the .North Island. The barometer has fallen In the southern districts but risen in the far north. Present indications lare for a railing barometer everywhere, jwith cloudy and unsettled weather and 'strong northerly winds generally.
