THE NECESSITY FOR GUIDES. THKEE DAYS ON THE MOUNTAIN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Eltham, February 25. Much anxiety lias been caused by a party comprising a man and two women being lost on Mount Egmont for the last two days and nights. They ■were accompanied by a boy. Tiiey were ascending the mountain, but got into difficulties. The boy went to Dawson's j Falls Bouse and infovmed the caretaker of the party's plight. The caretaker, Mr. Graham, went to their assistance, and. on seeing the party, informed them that they could not be extricated without ropes, and advised them not to move till he secured the necessary assistance. On returning, the caretaker found that t*e party had disappeared, and they lave not since been seen. Search parties are out. It was raining heayilv last night and to-day. Hawera, February 25. A party of three, Mr. Gordon and the Mia*» O'Brien and Looney, of Opimake, who were lost on Mount Egmont on Wednesday afternoon, were found this morning scantily clad, shoeless, and exhausted. Fresh helpers were summoned to convey the rescued ones to the . mountain house.
