WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD

(From Our Own Correspondent). At the monthly meeting of the above board there were present : Messrs. S. Turnbull (chairman), Hall, ConneW, Smith, and Western. Correspondence was read from Mr. Roy, stating lie expected to have titles of Kelly Road deviation completed this' month; from Moa Road Board, notifying that a Government grant of £SO had been made to Davis Road; from same, requesting payment of balance of Davis Road loan; from Jeffrey and Co., stating they would deliver the metal required on Tate Road; and from Mr F. Hoskin, claiming extra royalty on metal used" on Matarikoriko Roal.

The clerk was directed to request Jeffrey and Co. to proceed with their metal contracts at once.

The chairman reported that he had authorised the surfaceman to procure metal for repairs to Wortley Road from Mr. Wright's pit. Mr. Smith reported that Mr. T. Luxton would cart metal on to Bennington Road free of cost, iprovided the Board expended all money to credit of road in procuring metal. Surfaceman Palmer reported that Mr. Richards had completed his l Cross Road metal contract. The 2ft. concrete pipes had been put in on York Road, a'nd some of the worst iplaces on Karaka and Upper Te Arai Roads' had been formed. Surfaceman Giddy reported that Mr. Cartwright had completed his Te Arai and Lepper Road contracts, and that he had arranged with him to supply metal for Wortley Road from Wright's pit at 4s per yard. Mr. Montefiore waited on the Board, and it was resolved that his offer to keep the Te Arai Road in reasonable repair during the continuation of his contract, and to put same in as' good order at termination of contract as it was at commencement, be accepted, Mr. J. Holmes to be requested to act as sole arbitrator.

Accounts amounting to £lB6 were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
