Williamson and tPhillips, two men ovnwhom trouble arose, were amongst tho'se taken back, and were treated to a hostile demonstration by a large crowd, women being prominent. NEWCASTLE HOPEFUL. OFFICIALS COX;: TO GAOL. Received -i3, 1.10 a.m. Sydney, February 22. The feeling at Nevvcastle is hopeful that to-morrow will see the miners bacK \n the pits. As the result of the Full Court's de- ■ 'on, nine miners' officials who were -'■ ""d £IOO, or an alternative of two iths' imprisonment, surrendered :'i<mselves and were conveyed to the ■ f -:tland gaol to serve their sentences. -': irtly before surrendering one »i Hicin, Pease, gallantly rescued a man who got in front of a tram. Pease "dashed to his assistance. Both were ..knocked down, but were uninjured.
