Drilling at the No. 2 bore at Moturoa is proceeding steadily. It is expected that drilling will he resumed at No. 3 bore this morning. At the Gisborne Oil Company's meeting the manager reported that he had successfully raised 1300 ft of 5-inch piping and replaced it with 6-inch. Tli« heavy strain in lifting had caused the pipe to break three timee. The company proposes to push to a depth «f 2000 ft with the present hore. Another English company has applied for boring rights, but the directors declined to give ,an option, though they were disposed to give outside capitalists a small area to operate on.
