WAITARA HARBOR BOARD

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The adjourned monthly meeting of the Waitara Harbor Board was held on .Friday evening. Present: Messrs J. Foreman, W. V. Jenkins. W. It. Wilson, If. Chappell, and H. Spurdle. Owing to the absence of the chairman, Mr. Foreman was voted to the chair. Correspondence was read from the Waitara Borough Council asking permission to cany the water pipes across the Waitara bridge on the outer edge; also to allow the sewerage from the proposed drainage scheme to be carried into the river at below low-wator mark; also for permission to allow the waterworks contractor to use a small portion of the fore-bore adjacent to the boatslrds for making: the concrete hloeiA for hydrant purposes.—Permission was granted. Messrs W. F. Newbery and fi. Peavce wrote accepting the rental fixed by tho Board on their leases. A number of applications was received for new leases under the new conditions now offered by the Board. The transfer of a lease from ft. V.. Wilson to T). F. Reott was granted. The draft Bill in connection with t'%» proposed new bridge was discussed. The Board decided to delete clause* 3 and 4 of tli- draff, which read as follows: "(3) The said money-: (moneys accruing from the endowment revenue) to be .hereafter paid to the Council b\* tb> Board shall be applied by the Council in or towards the payment of interest and -inkim.' iund on anv loan to he raised by the Council for the purpose of re-building the said oridge. M) The Council shall, out of any loan mo/iei* ivrenftp- ' 0 v raised for the purpose of re-building the said bridge repay f o the Board all-preliminary expenses heretofore incurred hv the Board in connection with or incidental to the proposed re-hiiildm« of the bridtre." Mr. Chappeirs motion, that the necessary Mens he taken to par off tin debentures, which fall due in February, 1(111. amounting to €2(1.i0. wa> carried. On the motion of Mr. Jenkins it was resolved to ask the ftovernment l,i reinstate the bridsre grant of C3OHO on the estimates next session.
