WRECK AT THE ISLANDS
STEAAIER ON A REEF. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received February 21, 10.40 p.m. Brisbane, February 21. A mission steamer which has arrived at Cooktown reports sighting the island steamer Moresby, en route from Papua. aground in Cook Passage. lit lies high and dry on a reef. All aboard are safe and standing by. A steam launch was dispatched to Cooktown for assistance. FURTHER PARTICULARS. Received February 22, 12.5 a.m. Brisbane, February 21. The chief officer of the Moresby has arrived at Cooktown. He left the steamer's launch, which broke down, and landed at Cape Bedford, and came on overland. He reports that the Moresby grounded on Friday. The forehold is full of water, but the other holds are dry. The sea is smooth and there are -good prospects of floating. The passengers are transferring to another steamer.
