The Morning Post's Washington correspondent reports that the general impression is that the ship subsidy law will be withdrawn, despite President Taft's support. It aroused such criticism that the Government is unlikely to risk its defeat. EX-LABOR M.P.'S FUNERAL. London, February 20. Thousands of people attended the funeral of the late Mr. Pete Curran, exmember for Jjarrow, at Leytonstone, including Labor members of Parliament and a thousand trades unionists. Dr. Wallace, in an article in Harper's Magazine, gives further interesting details of Shakespeare's life, from documents in the Record Office. The article throws) valuable sidelights on the wqrks of Shakespeare produced between 1598 and 1604.

THE CZAR ENTERTAINS. , St. Petersburg, February 20. The Czar gave a cordial audience to the French members of the inter-Parlia-mentary Union. KAISER'S HEALTH IMPROVES. Berlin, February 20. The condition of the Kaiser, who was suffering from a chill, is improving. "SAYS THE LTTTLE WAGON WHEEL." Sofia, February 20. "King Ferdinand and Queen Eleonora, attended by two Ministers, have started on an official visit to the Czar of Russia.
THE RACE HATRED. Xew York, February 20. A big fight occurred between sheriffs and a nffib who sought to lynch a negro thief at Cairo, Illinois. One white was tilled and several injured.
