ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

CHILD FATALLY BURNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Carterton, February 18. A fatal fire occurred at Greytown last night, when a little boy two years and two months of age lost his life. Deceased's parents, James by name, of Humphrey Street, were at a concert at the time. They left the house and three children in charge of a daughter aged nine. Through some means the house caught fire, and the three children—all girls—endeavored to save -their baby brother, but were overcome with smoke and had to leave the place. The fire brigade was soon on the scene, but the hose, being old and very dry, was burnt in a few minutes. The charred remains of the child were recovered from the ruins and removed to the Club Hotel, where an inqtfest was' to have been held to-day. , ,^f^
