A RECENT COURT CASE.
To the Editor. Sir, —Your report of the Court case Mynott versus McCann is hardly fair to me. It puts me up in a false position, and is calculated to do me injury as a labor agent. The columns of a newspaper is not the place to defend character. 1 have been the subject of attacks for many years' by the local Press, but my usual iine in reply has been: "Though assailed by slander and the tongue of strife, to answer such by leading a virtuous life." I herewith iiand you a correct copy written to McCann, which he admits having received, but your reporter did not deem worthy of notice when reporting the case, which to my way of thinking showed bias on his part.—l etc., JOHN MYNDTT. "To McCann, Te Kiri.—Dear Sir,— Bearer, Andrew Steuart, is the young man I wired about. He comes* to you at 15s per week, with board and lodging, coach fare paid if he stays three months. I believe him to be a respectable young fellow, just out from Home. He has had very little experience, but is willing, and handy with carpenter's tools. Young men are hard to get. If you have an opening for his brother, who is a good milker and farm hand, and has work at present, let me know, as the brothers are desirous of being together. Yours 1 faithfully, John Mynott." [We iia've no wish to place Mr. Mynott or anyone else in a false position, and are pleased to publish the letter, which shows that the course Mr. Mynott took was a fair a7id proper one.—Ed.]
