MONO-RAIL TRAINS
BRUTISH RIGHTS ACQUIRED BY " GOVERNMENT. London, December 24. Mr. Brennan, the inventor of the mono-rail gyroscopic train, demonstrations of the usefulness of which were described recently, has sold a portion of his rights to Herr Scherl, of Berlin, for a handsome figure. The inventor states that the license gives Herr Scherl the exclusive rights in the patent for the whole of Germany, and also permits the sale of the manufactured engines, etc., m the United States. English rights are unaffected, but Mr. Brennan has assigned to the Navy and Sirmy the rights in his patents for a | Small royalty in consideration of the financial assistance the authorities gave him during his experiments. "Herr Scherl is one of the leading newspaper proprietors in Berlin," saia Mr. Brennan, "and is also a philanthropist. He has built model villages for the working classes and has' taken a deep interest in rapid transit, which is necessary for the better housing oi workpeople. He ias a great scheme ior the construction of a huge central station in Berlin, from which railway lines will radiate like the strands of a spider's web. "He believes; that in my system, which provides travel in safety at high velocity, he has found a solution of the problem. I am confident myself that my invention will effect a revolution in transit."
