LONDON PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs. E. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated 7th January, 1910: BUTTER. The weather has continued very mild for the time of the year, although during the last few days from some parts of the Continent it is reported they are experiencing it very cold. Danish: The market in the north kas not yet recovered irom the holidays, and the quotation has again been reduced 3 kroner. This reduction should now be sufficient to command a good steady trade for a while. French: There is no new feature here, I and the trade is running along now on small lines.

Australian: The s.s. Moldavia came to hand with about 50,000 boxes', and discharged her cargo both early and in good order. The quality of this airival is excellent, and we think about the best this season. This, combined with the action of some of the agente in holding firm, has resulted in last week's prices being well maintained, m spite of the fall in the Copenhagen quotation. This must be considered very satisfactory, and bears out our views expressed earlier in the season that good prices were likely to rule throughout. To-day there are only a few butters left on hand, and these should easily clear before the arrival of the s.s. "Otranto, which is due to dock to-morrow. The great scarcity of butter for the Is retail trade enables agents to get high values for all secondary qualities; in fact, some of these are making within a few shillings of the best. Unsalted seems to be rather overdone at the moment, and hardly commands any premium over salted, but no doubt this will right Itself in time.

New Zealand: The demand for butter ex Rimutaka has,' • been exceedingly good, and we' lully expect that every box will be cleared before the next steamer comes to hand, which is the lonic, due on the 14th instant. The quality of the s.s. Rimutaka's shipment was quite up to the best standard, and the butter is giving general satisfaction. Argentine: This has not sold quite so well this' week, but with the reduction of Is to 2s we expect the butters will easily clear. CHEESE. Canadian: There is more trade doing, and prices are a little higher. New Zealand: The quality of the s.s. Rimutaka's smpment is very good indeed, the cheese this year being far more ready than in previous seasons. The demand has at las't woke up, and there has been altogether a much better trade, with Inner prices.
