Waldegravc to be Commissioner of the Xew Zealand Police Force; Mr. P. C. Corliss, Registrar of Companies; Mr. J. F. M. Fraser, a King's Counsel: Mr. A. E. Bunny,-Cro-wn Solicitor at Masterton; Mr. H. T. Gillies', Crown Solicitor at Hamilton; Mr. G. H. Sherwood, Clerk of the Magistrate's Court, Balclutha; Mr. G. H. Harris, Clerk of the Magistrate's Court, Kumara; Mr. 11. G. Wilton, an inspector under the Slaughtering Act; Dr. Herbert Cheeson, a resident medical officer under the Department of Agriculture, Tourists, and Commerce. Dr. J. Q. A. Henry, the pastor of the First Baptist Church at Los Angelos, United States, preached his farewell address on 20th December last, prior to his' setting out for his world-wide evangelistic campaign. Accompanied by Professor P. P. Bilhorn, he was to have sailed on Ist February from San Francisco for Xew Zealand' and Australia, on the s.s. China, via Japan, China, and Philippine Islands, and should arrive at Sydney on 23rd March. The New Zealand tour states the "Outlook" will be begun at Auckland on 10th April, after which Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and other places will be visited. The missioned will be accompanied by their families.
On Saturday evening the members of the Now Plymouth branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants and the United Service Cricket Club assembled in the Railway Social Hall to say good-bye to Mr. C. Simmons, who has been transferred to Palmersron North. Mr. W. Thomson, on behalf of the railway staff, presented Mr. Simmons with a silver tea-pot and MUT.tr bowl. Mr. Preshaw, on behalf of the 'Cricket Club, presented Mr. Simmons "with a writing <.ase. Mr. Simmons suitably acknowledged the presents. Several toasts were honored, and mnsi'nl items contributed by Messrs Branson. Snmcrville. Preshaw, Thomson *?A Treeby, and a recitation by Mr.'Wig".
