XKW PLY.MOUTH v. STRATFORD.

A very enjoyable lawn tennis match wag played yesterday between the New Plymouth and Stratford clubs on the local courts. The lawns were in splendid order. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of the local club, and was much appreciated by the players. New Plymouth won by 203 points to 117, the New Plymouth ladies being responsible for the big lead. The men's games (provided some close finishes. Time did not permit of all the combined games being played. Scores were ay follow, Stratford being mentioned first in each instanace:—

The Stratford W.Y.M.I. club sent a strong team to play Fitzroy yesterday, and managed to defeat the suburban club on its own ground by 28 games. Fitzroy was not at full strength, Lints and Broome being among the absentrf". The contest was a keen one, and very enjoyable.
