Two men, arrested for stealing money from the till of the Zealaudia cafe on Tuesday, were brought before the Justices to-day, and discharged on the ground of insufficient evidence.

THE BOY BURGLARS,

Maurice Edward Pointon and Joseph ,Patriek Haughey, the boy burglars recently arrested at Happy Valley while carrying arms, appeared for sentence at the Supreme Court to-day on thirteen charges of burglary. Haughey, as ringleader, was sentenced to one year's imprisonment with hard labor on ea?li of the thirteen charges, the sentences to run cohcuire.ntly. Pointon was sentenced to one month's imprisonment without hard Irtbo,- on each charge, the terms to run concurrently. A FALSE DECLARATION. Auckland. Thur=diy. At the Police Court a man named Hugh Douglas Guthrie, an imhnt agent, with headquarters at Dunedin, was charsre-d that on November 2:i at Dunedin he made a ia!*e declaration of goods upon false invoices. Defendant admitted the offence but *ati-iied the Court that though he was supplied with the invoices by an English linn, thev were not sent at his request. The law' admits no tuich excuse, but the Court thought the case would be met by a minimum penalty of €25.
