BOWLING.

NEW PLYMOUTH V; STRATFORD;

A four-rink match was played at the local green yesterday, and resmltad in a win for New Plymouth by 20. Stratford won on two rinks, but went down badlv in the other two. At the close Mr. *G. Grey, president of the New Plymouth Club, said a few words regretting that upon the occasion of the club's last' meeting at Stratford, owing' to the rush to catch the train, he had not been able to make 'fitting acknowledgment of the hospitality then extended to the New Plymouth players. He took this early opportunity of expressing his club's thanks and called for cheers' for the Stratford bowlers. Mr. Ralfe, of Stratford, responded, and thanked the club for their attention to them. He remarked that Stratford had lost a number of players, but a lot of new ones were coming on, and they hoped to give a better account ot themselves than hitherto. Upon his call cheers were given for the NewPlymouth bowlers, and for the ladies who provided afternoon tea. The following were the scores (New Plymouth being first mentioned in each case):— Bennie, Hill, Clarke, Burgess (skip) 38; (Newton, Wake, King, G. Smart (skip) 20. Fraser, Harle, Collins, H. Smart (skip) 39; Tichbon, Ralfe, McMillan, Skoglund (skip) 14. Wau'gh, Cock, Ewing, G. Grey (skip) If i: Black, Monroe, H. Penn, Sangster (skin) 37. H. Goldwater, Dtavy, Hall, A. K. Smart (skip) 23; C. Penn, Sole, Morison. Betts (skip) 25. Totals: New Plymouth, 116; Stratford, 96.

FITZROY v. WAITARA.

The Waitara Bowling Club sent four rinks against Fitzroy yesterday, and a very enjoyable game resulted in a win for the some plavers by 07 to 82. Tho various games resulted as follows (Waitara being first-named):— Eliot, Gilbert, Nosworthy, Fras'er (skip) 14; Olivers, Roberts, Abbott, Healy (skip) 26.
