The King of Sweden had been suffering from internal pains since Sunday. The cause was diagnosed as appendicitis, and an immediate operation was decided upon and successfully carried , out on at midnight. The King of Sweden was born in 1858.,, succeeding to the position on December j Bth, WOl! He married in 1881 Victoria, daughter of the Grand Duke of Baden,, and has three sons, the heir apparent being Uustaf Adolf, Duke of Skane, who was' born in ISS2, and married in 1905 n daughter of H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught.
