ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
MJRXING FATALITY. By Telegraph. —Press' Association. Oamaru, Last Night. A wooden house was partly destroyed by fire on Saturday while undergoing repairs. The proprietor, W. C. Uandinet, had put a pot of tar on the fir.?, and went outride for a short time, ind shortly afterwards found the room in flames. He rushed back into the building and made an ertort to extinguish the flames, and in doing so was badly burnt about the hands and face, lie •was conveyed to his home, but died from shock shortly afterwards. Deceased was 73 years of age. A SUDDEN DEATH. Timaru, Saturday. .■. Charles Ernest Riddle, proprietor of the Albury coal mine, entered the mine about four o'clock this morning to make preparations for the day's work and was discovered by some mines about eight o'clock unconscious. ]'r. Cook, of Fairlie, was telephoned for. but efforts to restore animation were unsuccessful. The doctor pronounood life extinct. Death was due to suffocation by foul air.
