A resolution was carried in favor of earmarking horses for national defence, and advocating State subsidies. An influential committee of Lords, Commoners and others was elected. Earl Erroll said France spent £30,000 annually encouraging horse-breeding, while Britain expended*" a beggarly £SOOO.
