AN OUTSIDE MATCH WANDERERS v. TOKO. • A friendly mauTi was played between the New Plymouth Wanderers at Inglewood yestcnlay. Jack, Greatbach. Cook and Goss were absentees from tha V\ anderers' team, and Lash captained the eleven, lie won the toss. Xicall and Lash opened to the bowling of Col-2 and Cargill. Xicoll's stay was shore. La wry replaced him, but was soon put out by Cole, with a fast one which broke the wicket-. Whittle filled the vacancy, and a most useful partnership was the result, the two batsmen carrying the score to 41 before Whittle lost his wicket. He had played free cricket, and hit Cargill out of the ground for six. Steeds followed, and 30 more runs were added before Lash lost his wicket, caught by Parker off Prebblc. Lash batted well for his 27, giving only one very difficult chance to the bowler Steeds, after making 13, was run out. 'Hill and Watson were the only otlur bati-mcn to give Toko any trouble. llill made 15, three singles and two sixes, .the latter being wcll-timeTT hits.: Wanderers' innings closed for 99. Toko started badly, five wickets falling <for 30. At this stage Hill had captured .five wickets for 8 runs. Parker and Lucena made things a bit mcrrv, the prospects of a win for Wanderers not iooking too ,rosy. Lucena, however, was run out Just when matters looked good for. Tol-o, O'Connor and Parker (30 not out) were ■the only batsmen to make double figures, The former was very severe on anything on the off. Parker played fr>c cricket for his runs, his score including a six and a four. The country team failed to reach the Wanderers score, the innings closing for 81, and the town team thus" :von br 19 runs. The Toko

' had a first-class wicket-keeper in fc" and, should the north and south amalgamation be arranged, he must be included in Taranaki's representative team. (July three balls passed him : n the innings. The Toko team 'cxpresssd themsetves as much in favor of tlie amalgamation of the districts, nml Hie opinion was freely expressed that more •frequent friendly matcTio<?. such as yesterday's, would have brought about the re-union long ago. The game was played in a very pleasant spirit. The scores were as follow: WAXDERERS.
